Fabulous Vanilla Ice Cream for a Birthday Party or Just Because......

Vanilla Ice Cream Recipe:                                                                                                         2 quarts half and half                                                                                                             1 1/2 cups white sugar                                                                                                           1/2 pint heavy cream                                                                                                              4 teaspoons vanilla extract                                                                                                     1 pinch salt                                                                                                                        Step 1 Combine half and half, sugar, cream, vanilla, and salt in freezer container of an ice cream maker. Freeze according to manufacturer's instructions, about 20 minuets. Transfer to an airtight container and freeze until firm, about 4 hours. 

This recipe is designed for an old fashioned ice cream maker that yields one gallon. Scale the recipe down if you have a model with a different yield.
